We Inspire the
next generation

of cyclists

„As a teenager, I experienced firsthand how cycling can strengthen self-confidence, team spirit, and perseverance. With the Generation Ride Foundation, I want to pass on that life-changing experience.“

Roman Arnold (Canyon Founder and Founder of the Foundation)

Roman Arnold’s conviction is the spirit and driving force behind the Generation Ride Foundation: An operational foundation that introduces young people to the positive aspects of cycling creating an environment that enables their personal and athletic growth.

WE have a dream

We have a clear vision: to create an environment where children, teenagers and young adults can explore, discover and develop their passion for cycling freely, confidently and with our encouragement.

WE ARE ON A MISSION

We want to break down barriers and make access to cycling infrastructure and community as easy and exciting as possible. We aim to inspire young people and support them on their journey toward athletic and personal success.

Our FINISHLINE

Our goals are as diverse as cycling itself inclusive of the community around it. We care just as much about the athletic development of young people as we do about their social and personal growth. We see each individual and the bigger picture. Ultimately, we also aim to promote cycling as a key driver of the mobility transition.

LET'S RIDE

All GENRIDE events, as well as those hosted by our partner organizations and selected cycling clubs are published in our events calendar. Whether you want to cheer others on, participate as a new cyclist, or take part in competitions yourself, this is the place to be.

We do the RIDE THINGS

What we do: from building infrastructure and reducing barriers to creating points of contact with the world of cycling, we believe in the impact we can make as an operational foundation through our projects.

THE KIDS ALL RIDE

Who we support: Children, teenagers and young adults are the next generation of cyclists and athletes. That’s why we focus all our energy on creating a supportive environment and empowering structures for them.

GENRIDE News

Track Cycling – Büttgen Velodrome

As part of our autumn holiday program, the children and young people had the opportunity to experience a very special highlight—a visit to the velodrome in Büttgen, where they could actively ride track bikes themselves. The steep curves in Büttgen, with banking angles of up to 47 degrees, are among the steepest track cycling curves in the world.

At first, still cautious and showing the respect the steep track demands, excitement quickly took over: with each lap, their confidence grew, and the thrill of speed became clearly visible. Beaming faces and focused expressions accompanied the young athletes around every curve. For many, this day was a completely new experience and an unforgettable highlight of our holiday program.

Launch of School Projects

We are very excited to announce the launch of our cycling projects at schools. Through these projects, students have the opportunity to experience cycling up close as part of school activities—whether it’s making their first contact with the sport or further developing their existing cycling skills.

The projects combine practical training at the schools with a variety of activities, such as cycling tours around the local area.

We look forward to collaborating with the schools and implementing projects together that bring cycling closer to children and young people—and perhaps inspire them to develop a passion for this fantastic sport.

MTB School Championship RLP 2025

On September 3, 2025, the Mountain Bike School Sports Championship of Rhineland-Palatinate celebrated its successful premiere—and we were proud to host this special event around the Oberwerth Stadium.

Five schools with around 50 highly motivated students took on the challenges of the competition: a demanding skills course combined with a fast 2-kilometer circuit. This combination pushed the participants to their limits, requiring technical ability, full concentration, and a solid level of endurance.

A thoroughly successful debut that leaves us wanting more. We are already looking forward to the next edition.

Summer Holiday Camps 2025

During the 2025 summer holidays, we offered a holiday program for children and young people for the first time - and it was a complete success. Two weeks full of action, movement, and unforgettable experiences on two wheels are now behind us. One absolute highlight was the ride on the legendary "Nordschleife" - a car race track, located in the north of Koblenz.

Throughout the program, the kids had the opportunity to improve their cycling skills, try out new techniques, and take part together in varied training sessions and off-road rides.

Alongside the sporting activities, the focus was on team spirit and the joy of being active.

New Vans in the GenRide Design

With the acquisition of two new vehicles in the Generation Ride design, we have reached another important milestone in the further development of our structures.

Thanks to the increased mobility, we can significantly expand our reach and enable more direct engagement with children, young people, schools, and our partners.

In addition, the new vans open up opportunities for future initiatives and activities that were previously difficult to realize. Whether for larger events, additional workshops, or projects at new locations, the expanded mobility creates the foundation to sustainably grow our work and reach even more children and young people.

Kick-off for our Open Cycling Training

It's finally happening: our open training sessions for children, teenagers and young adults have officially begun! From now on, we’ll regularly offer guided sessions where the joy of cycling comes first, free from performance pressure, but full of movement, community, and motivation.

Whether it’s your first time on the bike or you're looking to improve your technique and skills, our training is for anyone eager to discover or deepen their love for cycling. The sessions are free of charge and open to all ability levels.

The program is led by our new cycling coach, who brings experience and passion to inspire excitement on two wheels.

Cycling Coach joins the Generation Ride Foundation Team

We’re excited to announce the next big step in the work of our foundation: Jonas Bogler, a vastly experienced cycling coach, is now part of the Generation Ride team! With his expertise and passion for the sport, Jonas will be leading open training sessions, camps and workshops for children, teenagers and young adults.

In addition, he will be working closely with schools to develop age-appropriate cycling programs that promote physical activity and offer students playful, accessible entry points into the world of cycling.

With this new role, we’re expanding our hands-on work and creating new opportunities to engage with cycling for everyone who’s ready to ride!

Mathieu van der Poel becomes an Ambassador

We are incredibly proud to announce that Mathieu van der Poel, a true superstar of the cycling world, will be joining our foundation as an ambassador. In recent years, Mathieu has shown with remarkable consistency and passion what it means to live and breathe cycling at the highest level. Multiple-time cyclocross world champion, road world champion, multiple winner of the Tour of Flanders, winner of the Amstel Gold Race - the list goes on.

We’re truly excited to collaborate with MVDP, one of the greatest riders of an extraordinary generation, as we work together to advance the mission of our foundation.

Ines Thoma Becomes an Ambassador

Ines is a professional mountain biker and Germany’s top female enduro rider, having competed successfully in mountain bike races all over the world. As a mother of two, she has a very special connection to the foundation’s projects. She has lived and breathed cycling for years and knows from her own experience the joy and unforgettable moments the sport can offer children.

We’re absolutely thrilled that Ines will be supporting and accompanying the foundation on its journey moving forward. It’s going to be amazing.

Foundation Recognition

With the completion of the recognition process, the Generation Ride Foundation has been officially approved by the responsible supervisory authority. We are truly excited to finally begin actively implementing our projects to fulfill the foundation’s purpose after a long journey from the initial idea, to developing the foundation’s profile and preparing its launch.

Now, we can start inspiring children, teenagers, and young adults with the joy of cycling. The first milestone has been reached - many more lie ahead. We can’t wait to take the next steps!
